I truly believe that everybody has the strength and ability to support their own growth and can change to have a better relationship with themselves and with others. We can develop a better relationship with ourselves by becoming aware of and accepting both our strengths and our weaknesses. When we begin to have a healthier relationship with ourselves and accept who we are, our relationships with others improve and our life as a whole improves as well.

I create a safe environment where we can explore your behaviors, actions, values, hopes and dreams. While I am here for you and will help you to heal and grow, I will also empower you to be able to help yourself so you can live an independent, fulfilling life.

I have a doctoral degree in psychology and I am grateful to have been working as a private practice therapist for over 18 years. I’ve had the privilege of working with my clients to help them heal and alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, low self esteem, and much more.

I am well experienced and proficient in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Object Relation Therapy, and EMDR. After our first couple of sessions together, I will have a clear understanding of what you’re going through, what your goals are, and how to reach them.

I love people and I enjoy helping people grow. I get a great deal of satisfaction when I see people change, improve their lives, and become a better and happier person.

How did I get here?

I earned my B.A. in Psychology with College Honors from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Passionate and resolved to become the best psychologist in the world, I spent the next several years training rigorously, learning how to perform great therapy with children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families.

I went on to earn my M.A. in Clinical Psychology, then my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles.

In addition, I’m a Psychology Lecturer at American Jewish University, where I teach college students about the process of effective psychological counseling, as well as the causes and treatments for various psychological and emotional conditions such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, relationships problems, trauma, and addictions.

Dr. Shirin Nooravi is a licensed clinical psychologist in Newport Beach, CA. Dr. Nooravi has over 17 years of experience in the field of psychology and over 20 years experience advocating for children and families in Southern California. She is known as an ‘ambassador’ in her field. Dr. Nooravi has been featured on Radio Tehran, Radio Iran, National Iranian TV, Iran Television, KIRN AM 670 and in the Javanan Newspaper.
Dr. Nooravi has a private practice, which helps children, teens and adults. She offers group therapy and classes as well as one-on-one sessions online, by phone and in-person. Before Dr. Nooravi began her private practice she taught Farsi to Iranian-American children in Los Angeles. She worked as a host in radio and TV, wrote a weekly column for an Iranian newspaper and, served as a vice principal at two private schools. She continued her education post-doctorate by training to conduct educational and psychological tests at the Reiss Davis Child Study Center.
Dr. Nooravi believes in a family system therapy technique which means that the whole family should be treated, not just the “problem” person. She follows a solution-focused approach and believes that humans have an amazing capacity for change and growth. Her philosophy on families is that parents can raise happy and healthy children once they learn how to communicate effectively.
