Kamran Abedini, Ph.D., is a Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, President of Econoficient Engineering and Management Consulting, and a former Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California, and The Art Center College of Design. His extensive teaching and professional consulting practices in Industrial Engineering include engineering analysis of production facilities to improve work methods and redesign workstations, and also setting up training programs and lecturing at several organizations in various industries in addition to being a faculty member of a NIOSH educational resource center.
Dr. Abedini received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in Industrial and Systems Engineering after receiving three other degrees, in addition to certificates in the field of Engineering. He is an active member in the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), President Elect of the Council of Fellows, previously holding the position of the Regional Vice President, and a member of the Networking Leadership Council. Dr. Abedini was honored by IIE as the first recipient of the National Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award in 2004. He has also made several presentations internationally for both government and private agencies, has published numerous articles in the field of Human Factors and has established a Human Factors and Ergonomics laboratory at California State Polytechnic University. His latest publication is a manual in Industrial Ergonomics, second revision, which is used in both laboratory and industrial settings.
In addition to his work in academic and industry, Dr. Abedini has held advisory and official positions at Non Profit Boards of organizations including the Association of Professors and Scholars of Iranian Heritage at which he had been elected President for three terms, and received the 2007 Distinguished Service Award, in addition to numerous other commendations by other organizations.
