#14: Provision
of training to management level personnel as to methods of
ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing
discrimination;
California
Broadcasters Association (CBA) hosted LA Regional Training
Seminar on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 9:00am-Noon at Sheraton
Universal Hotel 333 Universal Hollywood Drive Universal City. The
seminar covered two of the critical issues facing broadcasters.
First sexual harassment awareness and the other EEO training.
California law requires that all managers/supervisors of
companies with 50 employees or more must receive training in
sexual harassment awareness and prevention. The CBA's labor law
specialist provided the information and procedures each company
needed to ensure the station is in compliance.
The
second part of the training was about EEO requirements. Managers
can earn a full point of supplemental outreach credit for their
FCC required EEO activities by attending the CBA training
seminar. The managers received information on EEO practices and
potential problem areas.
KIRN's
managers John Paley, Poopak Mozaffari, Erika Naranjo, Siamak
Sabetimani, and Jason Houts attended this training. All attendees
received a letter/certification indicating their participation in
the mandatory 2 hour interactive Sexual Harassment awareness
training.
